Crucifixion - detail of polyptych, This image shows a detail from a three-tiered polyptych. Here, we see the center panel which depicts the scene of the Crucifixion. Christ is seen on the cross, crucified, and Mary and John stand to either side of the cross. They are in a rocky landscape. At the base of the cross is a skull, referring to the site name, "the place of the skull". There is a sign at the top of the cross reading "INRI"., 1447
