Head of the Emperor Galba, Photograph depicts the Roman Emperor Galba (68-69) who was the first of four emperors to attempt to hold the throne after the death of Nero. Galba was the oldest Emperor to date, coming out of retirement from his upstanding military career, but was only able to hold the throne for seven months. Here, the man is depicted in profile, with a stiff expression. He wears the tunic of the emperor and wears a laurel crown.

Requesting Materials
Each finding aid contains a link to request materials from the collections. Collections can also be requested by emailing the repository directly through the library website. Collections are non-circulating and must be used in the repository’s reading room. In many cases, the collections are stored off-site and require advance notice for retrieval.
