Madonna of Humility, Painting depicts the devotional image of the Madonna of Humility, a 12th century devotional image that depicted the Virgin Mary as the Mother of God enthroned and her humility as the mother of Christ. Following the standard iconography, the Virgin Mary seated on the ground, barefoot, holding the Christ child in her lap. However, she is also crowned and surrounded by angels. The five angels are shown in various poses, one of which is playing a violin and two are in prayer, one openly weeps and the last looks to be in contemplation and holding a book., 1433, Photographed in 1932
