Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.FLEM.0615; Public Notes: This popular composition was originally found as a sketch in Van Dyck's Italian sketchbook. Several copies followed. The Wallace Collection's picture was attributed to Van Dyck at the sale of the Cardinal Fesch when purchased for the 4th Marquess of Hertford.
