A Pastoral Scene (La Jardinère Endormie), In this painting, two figures are depicted in a pastoral setting. The woman sleeps with a cat in her lap. The man gazes at the sleeping woman and places a bouquet of flowers at her side as a sign of his affections. The painting has underlying themes of lust and sexual desire. Several elements, including the large urn, vegetables, and garden setting, indicate the woman's fertility., 1762
