Saint George Killing the Dragon, This image shows St. George killing the dragon, while a fair maiden looks on. She could be interpreted as a princess he is saving, or as the wife of Diocletian (thus referencing his martyrdom). St. George wears armor, rides a white horse, and has his arm raised as he spears the dragon at his feet. There is a rocky landscape with trees and buildings behind the maiden., 1485
Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.VENI.0337; Public Notes: According to Pallucchini, the following scholars believe this work to be of the Vivarini bottega (workshop) : Venturi (1907), Testi (1915) and Berenson (1932). Van Marle (1936) believes it to be the work of Bartolomeo himself.
