Dolphin Ridden by a Harpy; Harpy Standing Above a Grotesque Animal, Image depicts a woman, or harpy, riding a indistinguishable sea animal, perhaps a dolphin. The woman is crowned, nude, and adorned with jewelry but it the lower half of her body remains unrecognizable.
Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.SCUL.0422.1; Public Notes: Image is from Wilhelm Bode, The Italian Bronze Statuettes of the Renaissance, M A S De Reinis, 1980. The author identified this piece with Giambologna and the Pierpont Morgan Collection in London yet no other such evidence exists. The image is very similar to the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen's sculpture previously attributed to Giambologna.
Geometry and Astrology; Allegory of History, Image depicts the personification of History or Geometry and Astrology as a nude woman, resting on an elaborate settee surrounded by books, the crowned woman is seen reading.
