A Manola: Leocadia Zorilla, Portrait of Leocadia Zorilla, the woman who lived with Goya during the last years of his life, and the mother of Rosario Weiss. She appears here in the dress of Monola or Maja, the extravagant dress of the lower classes during Goya's time. She wears a black veil while still making direct eye contact with the viewer, she leans against a rock formation. In the distance you can see the railing of either a bridge or a balcony. Painting was part of a series known as the Black Paintings and as such is a transferred image of the work from the walls of Goya's home to canvas., 1820-1823
