Diana and Actaeon, Painting depicts the mythological scene of Actaeon stumbling across Diana and her maids bathing. The story tells that Actaeon had boasted that he was a better hunter than Diana. When he stumbled across her bathing, his punishment was that Diana turned him into a stag to which his hunting dogs then attacked. Diana is seen turned away from his viewing eyes. She has four hand maidens and one is seen wearing a headpiece with Diana's moon symbol. Actaeon is seen mid-transition from man to stag. His dogs are also mid-attack.
